If you enjoy connecting with others about books or movies, Bucks County Free Library has two exciting volunteer opportunities for you.
Book Club Leaders
We’re looking for book club leaders to take the lead in hosting a book club discussion group every other month at the library.
Options include leading a Book Club (6 books and meeting dates for a year) or a Mini Club (3 books and meeting dates for a year).
As a book club leader, you’ll:
- Identify engaging and diverse books based on a selected theme, genre, or topic of interest, in collaboration with a branch librarian
- Select meeting dates in collaboration with library staff
- Set up and break down the discussion space
- Help participants obtain a copy of the next book, if necessary
- Greet participants and lead them in a respectful and engaging discussion of the current book, using book discussion questions obtained from reliable sources
- Help library staff promote group by dropping off library promotional materials to local businesses and non-profit organizations
- Input information about library programs into local online media calendars
Qualifications:
- Enjoys talking with and helping others
- Experience leading or participation in a book club preferred
- Knowledge of library services, catalog, and website, or willingness to learn
- Must be able to commit to a consistent meeting schedule and selected dates
Physical demands: Occasionally lift tables and chairs up to 20 lbs.

Movie Matinee Leaders
Are you a cinephile? We’re looking for movie matinee leaders to take the lead in hosting a movie matinee for adults every week for one year.
As a movie matinee leader, you’ll:
- Identify engaging and diverse movies based on a selected theme, genre, or topic of interest, in collaboration with a branch librarian
- Set up and break down the movie space
- Greet participants
- Help library staff promote group by dropping of library promotional materials to local businesses and non-profit organizations
- Input information about library programs into local online media calendars
Qualifications:
- Enjoys talking with and helping others
- Knowledge of library services, catalog, and website, or willingness to learn
- Must be able to commit to a consistent event schedule and selected dates. Movies will be held weekly on Thursday or Friday afternoons at 2 p.m.
Physical demands: Occasionally lift tables and chairs up to 20 lbs.
