Wes and his mom, Jenn, have a treasured library routine. They pick one bin of children’s books, sit on the floor beside it, and sort every book into a Yes pile and a No pile.

“And sometimes, we even have to take the Yes pile and sort that one into Yes and No,” Wes says. “I like to pick a lot.”

Jenn, a second grade teacher in Bensalem, treasures summertime library visits with her son. “I’ve always loved that it’s a safe place to escape the heat for a little while, especially when we have more time together.”

Over the years, Jenn and Wes have enjoyed library storytimes, book sales and borrowing read-along books. “The library is a one-stop shop for enriching your life,” Jenn says.

Mental health matters! This week, the Quakertown branch is highlighting the importance of mental health education.

On Monday, May 16 at 6 PM, integrated behavior health specialist Lynsey Reiss will give a free talk on mental health at the Quakertown branch. She’ll share tips for supporting mental wellness and ways to reduce stigma around mental illness.

Her whole life, Lynne has rarely been without a book. As an only child, she followed her parents’ example and became an avid reader at a young age. “Books have been a constant,” Lynne says. “I started when I was little, and I’ve been reading my whole life.”

These days, Lynne turns to Bucks County Free Library for a steady stream of audiobooks. She enjoys historical fiction and non-fiction books about American and European history. If it’s been written about World War II or the Holocaust, Lynne has probably read it!

“Everyone has different needs, but I’m a strong advocate of reading,” Lynne says. “I believe in libraries, and I believe in reading.”
