Couldn’t make it to the library in time to renew your materials? Don’t fret! Starting March 1, 2025, you’ll have one less thing on your to-do list thanks to automatic renewals.
Eligible library materials checked out on your account will try automatically renewing the night before their due date. That means you’ll get to enjoy your cozy mystery or heart-pounding thriller a little longer!
How it works
At 9 PM the day before the due date, our system will automatically renew your eligible items. You will receive an email notification during this time, and it will list the items that were successfully renewed, and which items were not. If you’d like to update your notification settings, please login to your online account, call, or visit your local BCFL branch.
The exceptions
Most physical items are eligible for renewal if another patron has not placed a hold on the item and your account is in good standing. See how renewals differ per item.
Some exceptions include:
- Another patron has requested the item
- There are no renewals left (i.e., you’ve reached the max number of renewals)
- Your account has over $20 in fines, is blocked or expired
- The item is an Interlibrary Loan (ILL), Lucky Day book, magazine, or another non-renewable collection item
You can count on BCFL to answer your questions
Look at our FAQs for more in-depth coverage on auto renewals. As always, if you have any questions about items in your library account, please contact your library today. We hope to see you at the library soon!
