Where can you find library staff leading a storytime? If you answered, “at the library,” you’d be right. But if you said at an automobile dealership, holiday bazaar, or the mall, you’d be right, too. That’s because we bring storytimes out to the Bucks County community through our popular Pop-Up Storytimes.
Pop-Up Storytimes are led by staff from our seven branches and take place around Bucks County in venues as varied as movie theaters, parks, and tractor dealerships.
On Thursday, December 14, beginning at 11 a.m., youth services assistant Elizabeth Deaton will lead a Pop-Up Storytime at Fred Beans Chevrolet Dealership in Doylestown, featuring car-themed books and songs. Barbara Beans will make a special appearance and read a book to attendees. Kids of all ages, including car enthusiasts, should enjoy this event. The dealership is located at 845 N. Easton Road.
Pop-Up Storytimes are free and growing in popularity. Last month, the Perkasie branch hosted a Pop-Up Storytime with 103 attendees. Dates, times, and locations of Pop-Up Storytimes are listed on our online calendar.
Kids and their families enjoy Pop-Up Storytimes, but these events are more than just fun. Library staff are trained in early literacy and while young ones are listening to a story or singing and dancing, they’re learning and getting ready to read. Pop-Up Storytimes also offer opportunities for parents and caregivers to make friends for themselves and their children.
