When Sienna first brought her 18-month-old daughter Mika to the library a few months ago, Mika was a reserved and nonverbal toddler. As a new mother, Sienna sought out the library not just for books, but as a place to connect with other parents and provide Mika with opportunities to socialize and explore.
Their visits soon became a treasured routine. Together, they enjoyed imaginative play spaces, captivating story times, and the warm, welcoming environment created by library staff. Over time, Sienna noticed a remarkable change in Mika. Her confidence blossomed, her curiosity ignited, and she began communicating more.
Your Library, Your Story
It is thanks to you all that my daughter at 22 months is able to speak around 25 words thus far. Every day we go to the library and we learn. This week she has started to say she loves us. It’s very emotional how much progress we have seen our daughter make since bringing her to the library. -Sienna
Mika’s story is one of many that show the power of libraries to support early childhood development and strengthen community connections. But stories like hers are only possible because of supporters like you.
Without donors, the library couldn’t provide the resources that spark curiosity, inspire learning, and support development for children like Mika. Nor could we offer parents like Sienna the tools, programs, and spaces that help their families grow and thrive.
