Reading for the Happily Ever After

February 4, 2021

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and if you’re like me you could probably use a little of that Happily Ever After feeling in your life after 2020. Here are a selection of recent romances that are sure to make you swoon, blush, or smile.

Get your holds in on these great titles today – your HEA awaits!

Take a Hint, Dani Brown! – Talia Hibbert

When brooding yet secretly romantic security guard Zafir rescues Dani from a workplace fire drill gone wrong, it’s an obvious sign: PhD student Dani and ex-rugby player Zaf are destined to date. But before she can explain that fact, a video of the heroic rescue goes viral. Now half the internet is shipping #DrRugbae—and Zaf is begging Dani to play along. Turns out, his sports charity for kids could really use the publicity. Lying to help children? Who on earth would refuse?

The Love Curse of Melody McIntyre – Robin Talley

Melody McIntyre, stage manager extraordinaire, has a plan for everything. What she doesn’t have? Success with love. Every time she falls for someone during a school performance, both the romance and the show end in catastrophe. So Mel swears off love until the upcoming production of Les Mis is over.

Of course, Mel didn’t count on Odile Rose, rising star in the acting world. And she definitely didn’t expect Odile to be sweet and funny, and care as much about the play’s success as Mel. Will Melody let herself fall in love? Or will she stick to her plan?

How to Catch a Queen – Alyssa Cole

A king must rule with an iron fist, and newly crowned King Sanyu was born perfectly fitted for the gauntlet, even if he wishes he weren’t. He agrees to take a wife, though he doesn’t expect to actually fall in love. Even more vexing? His beguiling new queen seems to have the answers to his country’s problems—except no one will listen to her.

By day, they lead separate lives. By night, she wears the crown, and he bows to her demands in matters of politics and passion. When turmoil erupts in their kingdom and their marriage, Shanti goes on the run, and Sanyu must learn whether he has what it takes both to lead his people and to catch his queen.

Ten Things I Hate About the Duke – Loretta Chase

Who doesn’t love a good adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew? Cassandra Pomfret is a woman with strong opinions who isn’t afraid to voice them.
The Duke of Ashmont’s looks make women swoon, but his character flaws are beyond counting. When he ruins Cassandra’s reputation, he knows the only way to right the wrong is to marry her…and hope she doesn’t smother him in his sleep on their wedding night.

Fairy Godmothers, Inc. – Saranna DeWylde

If love is the source of all the magic in the universe, and the town of Ever After, Missouri, is the epicenter of enchantment, then the locals are in dire need of a reboot. At least according to resident fairy godmothers Petunia, Jonquil, and Bluebonnet. Their solution? Blow a bit of fairy dust in the direction of those in need of romance…what could possibly go wrong?

Bookish Boyfriends: Get a Clue – Tiffany Schmidt

Okay, this is a young adult romance, but the newest installment in the Bookish Boyfriends series is so charming I had to include it for all those Sherlock Holmes fans out there. After being taught the works of Sherlock Holmes in English class, a mystery deepens at Reginald R. Hero High. Huck and Win team up to solve the case . . . and while the sleuths gather clues, another swoon-worthy romance blooms in the school halls. This squeaky-clean, adorable series is sure to charm any reader who’s ever had a book boyfriend of their own.
