July 19, 2023

As readers, we know the fun of immersing ourselves in the worlds created by our favorite authors. But sometimes you need a break from the page!

These board games put you in the role of storyteller, or send you deep into the mind of a beloved literary character. For a fun evening with your friends or family, place a hold on any of these games and pick them up at your closest branch. May the best reader win!

For even more family fun, check out all the board games you can borrow from the library.

Dixit

3-6 players, ages 8+

Pictures shape the stories you tell! One player selects a card from their hand and speaks a word, phrase, or sentence represented by the picture. The others then play a card which best represents what was said, and each player votes for the best image. Points are awarded for correct guesses, clever choices, and good stories.

With the help of your associates, gather evidence, follow the clues and use your power of deduction to solve the case before the great Sherlock Holmes.

Marrying Mr. Darcy

You’ve been shipwrecked on a deserted island! Face the challenges of building a shelter, finding food, fighting wild beasts, and protecting yourself from the elements. But much more awaits you on this island as you and your fellow players ultimately decide which direction the game will unfold.

Sheriff of Nottingham
