FAQs
How much time will it take?
Let’s Play School fits your schedule. There are no due dates! Each activity takes 15-30 minutes. If you finish three activities per week, it will take three months to earn all 12. If you finish one activity per week, it will take about nine months to earn all 12.
How do we get started?
It’s easy! All you need are: an email address to register, a computer, tablet, or smartphone connected to the Internet, and household materials such as crayons, spoons, and paper.
You don’t need a library card.
What about privacy?
The library will never share your information with a third party.
Do we need to go to the library?
You don’t have to go to the library, but we would love to see you. If you visit you can:
- Pick up a Let’s Play School badge journal.
- Get a sticker every time your child earns a badge. This is a fun way to celebrate success.
- Do optional activities.
Can I register more than one child under my email address?
Yes.
- You MAY use the same email address for more than one child. However, you must use a different username for each child you register.
- You MUST be logged out of Let’s Play School when you register a child.
- Making sure you are logged out, click register and use a unique username for each child you wish to register with your email address.
Do we have to finish all the badges?
No. You and your child can choose the badges that will work best or be the most fun. Studies show that very young children are most motivated when they’re in control. We suggest you let your child pick the badges in whatever order makes sense to him or her.
How do we know when we’re done?
You can track your child’s progress on the Badges page. Badges your child has earned will show in full color. When your child has earned all 12, a pop-up screen will announce that he or she has finished. Visit the library for a fun prize to celebrate!
What skills will we practice?
The badges are color-coded and divided into five general categories: Cognitive and Math, Becoming Independent, Creativity and the Arts, Social and Emotional Development, and Language Development.
